CDV of cute couple…no rings?? Well groomed and sitting in a common pose of the time, with her standing and him sitting. I’m guessing early 70’s. Not much of a bustle on the dress and her hair is certainly styled in a particular manner. Plaid cloth came and went in popularity. With all these details what’s your best guess as to the date of this image?

Very pregnant lady in a checkered dress. This may not have been the most appropriate time for her to have her “shadow caught”, but maybe her husband was away at war and she wanted to share her condition.

How old is she? Her ears are exposed! Women generally didn’t expose their ears in photographs till about 1863. The braiding on her slieve mimics army uniforms and was fashionable during the war between the states. OK, so how old is she? Click on the image.

Two young girls pose for the camera. Not fancy or rich, but nicely presented as they patiently wait the photographer’s call. Can you guess their ages? When was this taken? What details can you draw from this image? Click the image for more detail. Then comment, please. Click on the image.

Is the child alive? 19th century images were often of the dead, it was perhaps the only photo they had taken. Was the limp arm posed? Is the basket bassinet a prop on the table? Are the clothes too neatly displayed? When might this have been taken? Click the image for more detail. Then comment, please. Click on the image.
